About

Whilst my interest in photography stems from childhood, it was not until 1984, when I joined Northallerton Camera Club, that it became my chief interest. Currently Secretary of the Club, I am an associate of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), and hold the Masters Award of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), their highest for photographic merit.

I am deeply involved with the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF), being included in the Federations’ lists, both as lecturer and as a judge. I have held a number of posts including General Secretary and President. Currently I am serving as Chairman of the Judges' Sub-Committee. In 2008 the PAGB granted me their Associate Award for services to photography.

I am also a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and, just to keep me out of mischief, of the Tees Digital Photo Group and Circle 36 of the United Postal Postfolios (UPP). I have been entering International Exhibitions and Salons for a number of years. To date, I have accumulated in excess of 700 acceptances and 70 awards. This success has been recognised by the Federation De l'Art Photographique (FIAP), which in 2008 granted me their EFIAP Bronze award. In September 2007 the PSA granted me their Profficiency Award, the PPSA.

It is my good fortune to have a wife, Sheila, who is fully supportive of my work. Having been awarded the Licentiate Distinction by the RPS, the PSA one Star Award for success in International Exhibitions, and now in 2008 the PAGB Distintion Award, she is no mean photographer to boot.

We use Pentax camera systems and have both film and digital cameras. I mainly use Fuji Velvia with my Z1P, and have a K20D for digital work. Sheila has gone amost completely digital using her K10D, but still has her MZ5N for colour print work.
