NORTHERN COUNTIES INTERNATIONAL SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY
The Salon has been organised by the NCPF and its federated clubs for over a quarter of a century. For the first 27 years the Salon was open to Colour Slides only, and known as the Northern Counties International Slide Exhibition. Last year for the first time Electronic Images were included and its name change to the Northern Counties International Exhibition of Projected Images. In 2006 the South Shields International Print Salon, the 65th, was run by the South Shields PS for the last time. At their invitation the NCPF took over responsiblity for the event. In 2007 the event was run as a separate stand alone event, and ran it as the 1st Northern Counties International Print Salon. In 2008 the Print Salon and the Projected Image Exhibition were merged into one event. This year's event will known as the:- "30th NORTHERN COUNTIES INTERNATIONAL SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY 2009" It has been recognised by both FIAP and the PSA and will have FIVE sections:- This year all three Projected Image Sections, General, Nature & Photo-Travel, will be Dual Projection. there will of course also be the MONOCHROME PRINTS SECTION and COLOUR PRINTS SECTIONS. The Salon will award FIAP, PSA, RPS and NCPF medals, and include awards for specific subjects in all Sections. In particular we have this year changed and increased the number of awards in the Print Sections to bring them more into line with the Projected Image Sections of the Salon. The International Salon Catalogue has been granted the 4 Star Award by FIAP. The Salon will be shown at numerous locations, ranging from Edinburgh in the North to York in the South. There will be two separate exhibitions, comprising acceptances to the General, Nature and Travel Sections in one, and the Monochrome and Colour Prints in the other. To achieve this requires an enormous amount of work and commitment by a large band of willing volunteers, to whom our thanks are sincerely extended for their efforts.
