SUMMER OUTINGS 2008

10th May Elvington Areodrome A Saturday 'Half Day' event, photography can take place after 12 noon.

2nd June Easingwold A Monday 'Evening@ event, photographs can be taken from 6pm onwards.

21st June
North Yorkshire Show A Saturday 'All Day' event, photography can take place at the show all day.
3rd August Brimham Rocks A Sunday 'All Day' event, photography can take place after all day.

Leo makes a welcome return to our club.    As one of the North's leading photographers, and having seen the quality of his work before, we all know that he will open our season in a spectacular fashion.

As part of his Royal Photographic Society Lecture Tour, another old friend of our club, Paul returns to the North to judge the Northern Counties International and stops off to give us one of his superb lectures.

17th "An Eye for a Picture"

The quality of Richard's work has never been inquestion; as one of our longest serving and most distinguished members we are bound to in for a treat this evening.
Hand in up to 3 slides for the Roebuck Trophy and/or 3 prints for the McCombie-Metcalfe Cup.    These to have been taken at at least two of our Summer outings during 2007

19th Digital Evening    (Wednesday)

24th Members' Evening  - "Judge and be Judged"

An informal evening of friendly competition, an atmosphere where so much can be learned, whilst at the same time having a relaxed and enjoyable evening.    Bring along no more than six prints and/or slides of your own choice.

OCTOBER
1st "NCPF International" - Nature & Photo-Travel Sections

The NCPF once again brings us these two excellent Exhibitions in which some of the best photography in the world is shown.    We extend a welcome to members of Stokesley PS to join us on this evening.
Hand in up to 3 prints and/or slides for our first Members' Night Competition
Subject "OPEN".

McCombie Metcalfe Cup (prints) & Roebuck Trophy (slides).
This is the evening when the photographs, our members took on our outings last summer, are judged.    Members will have entered a set of 3 prints and/or slides taken on at least two of the outings.

11th "NCPF International" - General Section

We are invited to join Stokesley PS at their club for the showing of the General Section of the NCPF Exhibition.

"Lighting the Land Up"

We are entertained tonight by another of our own members; Henrietta is fast developing a reputation as one of our leading colour slide photographers.     Holder of the NCPF Award for the Best Landscape Slide and now meeting with sucess at International level, I am sure she will provide a great evening for us all.

17th Digital Evening    (Wednesday)


22nd Members' Night Competition - Open
The first of our Members' Night Competitions, this is popular with the club and has always an absorbing evening.    The subject is 'Open' so anything goes . . . . . well almost anything!

29th "Goa by Taxi"
David Stephenson ARPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, FDPS
David, who travels from Cockermouth, also makes a welcome return to Northallerton.    One the most prolific and successful photographers from the Western side of our region we are in for another exiting evenings' photography.

NOVEMBER
5th Inter-Club Competition with Wensleydale CC (at Northallerton)
This annual get together is always looked forward to by members of both clubs.    We shall of course be competing with prints as well as slides.

12th "Season of Mists"

Quite simply, John needs no introduction.    His Audio-Visual shows are legendary and this is sure to be one of the highlights of the season.    We are fortunate indeed to have him as a member of our club.

26th Members' Evening with Darlington (at Northallerton)

Darlington CC travel to Northallerrton this year for a relaxed, non-competitive evening at our club.     This year it is their turn to show us their work and to discuss it with us.    This event has, over recent years, proved popular.

DECEMBER
3rd Royal Photographic Society International Projected Image Exhibition
As with the Northern Counties International this event attracts some of the world's finest photographers and this year for the first time it is a Dual Projection event with Electronic Images as well as Slides..

10th Members' Night Competition - City of York
The second of our Member's Night Competitions.    This time our efforts to interpret the subject of the 'City of York' will be scrutinised by one of our own judges.

12th Digital Evening    (Wednesday) 

17th Literary Shoot Competition - Christmas Supper & Sale
Enter 3 prints and/or slides each to depict the following quotation "Each in his narrow cell forever laid, the rude forefathers of the hamlet sleep"    
This is followed by a Christmas Supper and a light hearted auction of your old unwanted photographic items, to raise funds for the club.

7th NYSD Silver Salver Competition

One of the two porfolios from the NYSD Annual Competitions, held before Christmas, the Silver Salver Competition is for individual entries of Colour Prints.    This is our chance to see the results and to hear the judges comments.

14th "The Four of Us .....

Four of our members, who are not known for doing print or slide shows, but who have each proved their abilities with the camera, give us separate presentations of their work.    This is a great chance to see some of the excellent work done by these stalwarts of the club.

We welcome Paul to Northallerton from Kent.    For my money Paul is one of the finest landscape photographers in the UK; his work is inspiring and I have no hestitation in saying that his presentation will be one of very best of the season. DON'T miss it.

28th Members' Night Competition - "Christmas Time"
Enter up to 3 prints and/or slides depicting 'Christmas Time' for the third of our Members' Night Competitions.

4th NYSD Annual Inter-Club Competition

The second portfolio from the NYSD; this time it your chance to see the Interclub Print and Slide Competitions, held before Christmas.
Hand in up to 3 prints and/or slides for our Annual Inter-Club Competition with our friends and rivals from Stokesley PS

10th NCPF Club Slide Championship
(Sun) Our club has enjoyed unprecedented success in this competition in recent years and this year we look to regaining the trophy that we "loaned" to Tynemouth PS last year.    This is a day when you can see the very best of slide photography in the North of England as well as taking part in a social occasion.    The event will be at Washington staring at 10am, entry is free and refreshments are available.    Support your club and have enjoy a great day's photography.

11th "Simply Amazing"

Ray makes a welcome return visit from Sheffield.    One of the YPU's leading lights for many years Ray turns his creative skills to "diddling" with Photoshop.    This is going to be an intriging and instructive evening, not to be missed.

18th NCPF Selectors' Choice Portfolio

This portfolio, drawn from last year's NCPF Annual Competitions, is designed to show a respresentative sample of the region's work over the last year.    This is poipular Portfolio has been revamped sliughtly this year to ensure that it provides the really enjoyable evening's entertainment it has become known for.
Hand in a panel of three prints and/or a panel slides for the "Millennium Trophy", for this the fourth and final Members Night Competition.    The subject for your panel(s) is "OPEN", so the choice is yours

20th Digital Evening    (Wednesday)

25th Inter-Club Competition with Stokesley PS (at Northallerton)
This year we travel to joiu our friends at Stokesley PS for our annual Inter-Club Competition in Slides and Prints.    This is a keenly fought competition but one in which the social aspect of meeting friends is just as important.

In the second of two joint lectuers with the Royal Photographic Society, Tony travels up from Dorset to give us his presentation.    I am sure that Tony reputation goes before him and that he needs no introduction.    Quite simply this is going to be another of those excellent evenings given by a master in his field.

10th Members' Night Competition - "Millennium Trophy"

The prints and slides that you entered for this, the fourth and final of our Members' Night Competition, is judged tonight.     A guest judge will assess our attempts to put together panels of three prints or slides on a subject of each entrant's own choice.

Another of our special evenings. One of our own, albeit now a "Country Member", Gordon will be given one of the warmest welcomes of the year, when he travels up from Norfolk to give us one of his superb natural history and landscape shows.    For those who have not seen his work before I can only say one thing DO NOT MISS IT.

Alan's work has always enthralled our members and we are lucky that, as a member of neighbouring Forest of Galtres CC at Easingwold, we are able to get him back once again to entertain us.

A visiting Judge will gives his verdict on our prints.

14th ANNUAL SLIDE EXHIBITION
Another visiting Judge will this time adjudicate on our slides.
